A Celebration of Gourds, Art and the Garden — at Food For Thought!

Sunday, October 5, 2008, 1 - 4 pm
6550 Railroad Avenue, Forestville, CA (Map)

Musicians entertain with homemade gourd instruments.

Food For Thought, the Sonoma County AIDS Food Bank, and the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center present this fun event featuring a silent auction of fine gourd art, an exhibit of gourd instruments from around the world, live demonstrations in creating gourd art, tours of Food For Thought’s beautiful organic gardens, and seasonal organic food and wine from Sonoma County’s bountiful harvest. Throughout the day, musicians will entertain guests with a variety of hand-made gourd instruments.

Over 100 artists have been invited to participate this year, including many well-known Sonoma County and

Bay Area gourd artists, some of whom will be displaying their gourd art work for the very first time, bringing their own artistic sensibilities and magic to the gourd form.

CALABASH! benefits the gardens at Food For Thought, Sonoma County AIDS Food Bank in Forestville California. These gardens provide organic vegetables, flowers, herbs and fruit – as well as a place of beauty and respite – for the Food Bank’s clients. Gourds harvested from the gardens are being offered to artists who are creating pieces for this unique fundraising event.

A benefit for Food For Thought's organic garden.
